Société des études mongoles et sibériennes
The Société des études mongoles et sibériennes (SEMS) is a French learned society founded in 2013 by Roberte Hamayon, the distinguished ethnologist and specialist in Mongolian shamanism who had earlier established the Centre d'études mongoles et sibériennes (CEMS) in 1969. Headquartered at the CEMS address at 54 boulevard Raspail, Paris, SEMS serves as the formal publishing body for the open-access journal Études mongoles & sibériennes, centrasiatiques & tibétaines (EMSCAT), which it inherited from the CEMS. The journal, founded in 1970 and available through OpenEdition Journals, publishes annual peer-reviewed scholarship in French and English on the ethnology, languages, religions, history, and politics of Mongolia, Siberia, Central Asia, and Tibet.
